More and more people are using the internet to do their tasks rather than doing in person. (e.g. banking, shopping, hotel booking etc.). Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

An increasing number of people depend on the internet to do their tasks including financial transactions such as banking and paying bills. Despite some drawbacks, the trend appears to benefit a multitude of people.

The dependency on the internet to do these types of transactions has saved a considerable proportion of people’s time, which is currently dedicated to engage in other productive works, and this should be seen as the primary advantage of this trend. To be clearer, in the past, people used to spend hours in queue to pay their bills, and had to wait for a long for their turn in banks. Today, internet enables them to do these activities in just a couple of minutes, and that too with a greater accuracy.

The second major advantage this trend offers is the convenience. To be precise, unlike the traditional in-person transactions, it allows people to use these services round the clock. This flexibility in timing has helped a number of people who are engaged at work during the day. The provision of paying in smaller instalments is another convenience people find with this method. On a whole, the transformation which internet has made in this area is unimaginable.

I need to admit that not every such transaction is perfect. There are instances of security breach when hackers deceive these online service beneficiaries, and make them suffer economic loss. However, measures such as strengthening and changing passwords periodically can resist these attempts.

To conclude, even though there are some concerns which can be solvable, it is clear that the preference to online services over in-person transactions has presented man with many visible advantages.
