It is a fact that there is a considerable population swell in many ultra-modern cities of the world. Fundamentally, this is because of the high expectancy of modern generation and this trend is mostly positive in nature.

It is assumed that most people opt to live in metro cities in search of better living conditions. However, when it is analysed critically, the underlying reason is because of their higher aspirations in life. To explain it further, almost all metropolitan population is diverse, and the main reason why they stick to these areas is because they think they can generate more income. For example, an established medical professional from a town would move to a larger city not to better his living condition, but to earn more money. The case is similar when it comes to a barber, or a construction worker.

Turning to the bright side, the highlight is the possibility of earning high income as mentioned above. However, there are other benefits too such as abundant opportunities and flexible life. In bigger cities, there would be a variety of options for the residents. Whether it is children, students, young adults, job aspirants or the aged, these cities hardly disappoint. For instance, a student has multiple choices for academics as well as sports and likewise a job-seeker has an array of vacancies to choose from. In addition, the urban life is not as monotonous in countryside or small towns.

However, there are criticisms that the urban population is more likely to suffer adverse health conditions, physically and mentally. They point out the higher rate of life-style diseases and stress- related issues in cities when compared to smaller towns, with updated statistics.

To conclude, an increased desire in life is the main reason why people concentrate in big cities, and it is clear that most people fulfil it despite some difficulties.
