MODEL ANSWER:

There is a difference in opinion whether to adopt a country’s customs after migration or to keep the native customs. Both these arguments have equal gravity, and hence a critical assessment is needed before framing a rational conclusion.

On the one hand, those who prefer to keep their own customs believe that once they hesitate to do this, they are more likely to lose their cultural identity. They believe one should be proud of their invaluable heritage and they should preserve the traditions of the home country, which were followed by their ancestors from generation to generation. They think this will make them feel unique and it can become a tool to recognize them. Therefore, to keep their cultural integrity intact, they recommend practising their customs wherever they go.

On the other hand, others think it is a necessity to acclimatize with the environment of the host country. They feel, in a different country if an immigrant follows his native custom closely, the indigenous population may feel social annoyance, and thereby this causes disputes in the society. They add, one should respect every culture and tradition, and hence an immigrant should adopt the customs of the host country in order to make his life more comfortable.

After analyzing both these views in details, I think one should not turn his face away from the customs and traditions of a different country. At the same time, he should not forget his own customs completely, even though it is not practised regularly in a different country.
