It is a fact that most people suffer sleep deprivation today, and the causes are mainly personal. If assessed critically, this habit is definitely counter-productive.
Of the two major causes, the first is the faster pace of development. To be precise, in the past, when electricity was not in use, people had to sleep early because they had fewer options to do work. However, now, establishments and firms work round the clock. Similarly, many are seen spending a considerable proportion of their time in front of technologically advanced gadgets either to kill time or to earn from it.
The second reason is because of the selfishness of human beings. To be clearer, modern humans realise that if they sleep less, they can earn better. For example, a restaurant owner can make money when he opens his firm during the day. However, he now keeps the firm opens till late night because he knows by doing this, he can earn double the amount than he earns during the day. This is the case in case of many professions like engineering, medicine and teaching.
Turning to the consequences of reduced sleep, science has proof that it causes psychosomatic issues such as loneliness, gastric problems and depression. Although a person can benefit from cutting down the hours he sleeps, it is a fact that soon or later, he has to pay for that. Therefore, a man has to follow the recommended sleeping duration and should have a regular sleeping time as experts suggest.
To conclude, the accelerated growth of technology and selfishness of the modern man are the causes of sleep deprivation today, and not many can say this fetches positive results.
