There is no doubt that homework plays a key role in enhancing the performance of a student. However, there exists a controversy whether they should be given more or less amount of the same. The matter has to be discussed thoroughly prior framing a logical conclusion.

On the one hand, the former group believes that less homework would ease the pressure among the students. To be precise, they point at the tight academic schedule of modern students, which hardly gives enough time to either relax or socialize. For instance, a typical school-going boy has at least a couple of subjects to study, and most of these include assignments or projects. If this is the situation, more homework would definitely exhaust him severely which eventually makes him a dropout or an underperformer.

On the other hand, those who oppose the aforementioned view feel that more homework would enhance the student performance. This is because they presume homework as a key catalyst for an average student to broaden his radius of knowledge. For example, many famous personalities could spend very less time at schools, but the quality time they spent doing homework made them exceptionally successful. They also believe that more time should be dedicated at homework in order to assert what they have studied in the classroom.

After analyzing both views in detail, I think homework cannot be excluded in a student’s life. However, to what extent it is to be given should be based on the student’s potential and mental status.
