People differ in the way they become successful in life. While some claim that a university degree is mandatory for a successful life, others believe that some other parameters are there behind this. Although a graduate has greater potentials to embrace success, I believe other parameters too are crucial in the process.

The primary reason behind the former group’s view is because of the general thought that the basic requirement of any good job in the society requires graduation as its minimum qualification. To be precise, most employers assume that universities train candidates in a wholesome manner, focusing on all the aspects of the job specifications. This is the key reason why the employers have set graduation as one of the basic requirements in job classifieds, to which most in the society agree to. Another factor to be considered is that a graduate can become successful even without an employer by initiatives such as small businesses and self-employment.

One the other hand, the latter group points at a vast majority of the successful population who do not have seen the doors of universities. They believe that a range of factors can contribute to this success, including hard work, perseverance, inborn talents, intelligence, external support, motivation and luck.   For example, a businessman can help his son to run an individual business successfully, even if he is not a graduate. The success stories of many school dropouts, who have achieved the heights in their life with hard work and perseverance are other good examples.

After analyzing both views in detail, even though a university degree is important in assuming a good career in the present scenario, I feel it is not mandatory as there are other crucial factors which determine a person’s success.
