Heated arguments are there in place whether animals can be used for the human needs or priority should be given to animal rights. Both arguments are topical in nature, and hence a detailed discussion is needed before framing a logical conclusion.

Those who opine that animal rights have to be protected point out that it is inhumane for the civilized generation to ill-treat animals for their selfishness. Many animals are forced to leave their natural habitats just because human beings are encroaching into their areas for clearing forests and hunting. Many animals are tamed and treated unnaturally. Some are used in sports and circuses, while some are used for food and leather. At no point, their rights are considered as they are intended to live in the way which man desires. Hence, there should be stronger legislations to protect their rights, wherever they live.

Nevertheless, others highlight the difficulty that the humans are expected to face when they exclude animals from their lives. To be precise, from the time immemorial, man started his journey of life with animals and they became an integral part of their survival. Meat, dairy products, leather and wool are just a few examples which have become so essential to man and these cannot be effectively replaced even if newer alternatives are available. Experiments done on animals are another important advantage to human race as these plays a vital part in the field of medical research.

After analyzing both the views in detail, I do not feel there is any problem if humans use animals for their benefits. However, this should be within the circle of globally accepted norms.
