Some people believe that newspapers are the best way to learn about news, while others believe that the more effective way is through other media. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

There exists a controversy regarding the best mode of acquainting news. While some believe this can be done from reading newspapers, others think that depending on other media resources is better. Both ways have their own significance and so, it is hard to decide which is more efficient.

When analysing newspaper reading, the traditional way of learning news, more people find it convenient and trustworthy. This is because, popular newspapers are published based on statutory legal systems of the respective countries and international press media rules. Therefore, any false information published on those may result in legal complications. The popularity of reading newspapers is still at large because anyone who has basic literacy can digest the publication even from a remote village, where other media’s access is limited.

The other two modes of news learning other than the print media are the broadcast media and the online media. The broadcast media includes television and radio, to which a larger proportion of urban population has access to. Compared to newspapers, which are published daily, news updates are more frequent on these media sources, which appears to be much beneficial in case of information like weather and traffic. Online media includes websites, applications and social media, which gives faster updates than the broadcast or print media. However, there are a lot of concerns whether the information passed is genuine or not.

To conclude, when newspaper focus on the most trustworthy information, other media give stress to faster and bulk information. I believe people should have access to both, so that they can compare and evaluate which would be better for them in their circumstances.
