Some people believe that people living in the twenty-first century have a better standard of living as compared to previous centuries. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

There are people who view the twenty-first century as a time frame with the best standard of living the world have ever seen. Although it is a truth that human life is much better now than the bygone centuries, I can hardly agree with it.

One of the reasons behind my objection is because the world today is becoming too complex unlike the previous centuries. To be precise, todays world is going through a series of challenges such as financial and social insecurities. Many countries in the 21st century have tasted the bitterness of economic damages as seen in the respective stock markets. Regional fights, sectarianism, ideological clashes, religious conflicts and frequent wars have made our societies totally unsafe to live. In addition, technology has intruded into every sector of human life such as shopping, banking and even in their own personal spaces and eventually made man its slave. My final concern is the rising number of morbidity and life-style diseases in this century.

However, in the previous centuries, the life was much easier and people were so social. To be clearer, people had enough time to interact with each other and their life was comparitively peaceful. There were less or no concerns like global warming, pollution, population explosion and cyber crimes. All these issues started when man started living in the much comfortable manner, enjoying the most modern technology. Towards the end of the 2oth century such issues had become worse and the world has become more uncertain.

To conclude, though we live in an advanced time frame in this century, the quality of our life is not as good as our previous generations.
