It is argued that family members should be given more preference than friends. If assessed critically, based on circumstances and cultural disparities, one cannot say this as a perfect statement.

If the matter is addressed focusing on family, one needs to understand it plays the most crucial role in almost all the vital developments of a person. To be clearer, it would be really difficult for a person to acquire the key skills of life without the assistance of parents during his early ages of life. In addition, based on the fact that blood relation is stronger than any other relation, people generally have the belief that family would be there with a person in case of any sorts of emergency all through his life. The emotional support which a person gets from his parents or his life-partner is just an example of this. In certain cultures, the family bonds are so strong, as they are rarely seen living separately.

On the other side, many people find it comfortable being with friends most of their time, and this is because of the trust they develop among themselves. In case of a child from a broken family, friendship is so precious, which they treasure throughout their life. They are seen sharing secrets only among their friend circle, and dedicate their lifetime achievements for their friends. Similarly, in case of a university student, the bond between friends is seen stronger when compared to a stage when he makes a family. It is commonly seen in modern societies that more people are coming out from the clutches of family relationships and becoming independent with their friends.

After having an in-depth analysis, I think the statement is definitely true in specific cases. However, in certain living situations, it just turns opposite.
