The question whether or not to make children independent by leaving their parental home as soon as they attain legal maturity is becoming prominent these days, as some argue that this should be promoted, while others suggest a longer time span in doing so. Both are valid arguments, and hence a detailed discussion is needed before framing a logical conclusion.

On the one hand, those who have the former view state that it is a vital factor to foster the hidden potentials in a person. To be clearer, they think that children, usually at their pre-adult age are always in a comfort zone at their parents’ home, which rarely allow them to explore their innate talents. This is best possible when a child is exposed to such challenging situations. Parents would not urge their children to try these risk-prone activities because of their love, care and affection towards them. Therefore, they believe as soon as a child becomes an adult, they should be allowed to expand their talents, by encouraging them to leave their parents.

On the other hand, those who hold the second view feel that the world is becoming more complex and unsafe for people. Unlike the past, it is difficult for most people to identify the vulnerable factors ahead of them, and this add the severity of the problem. At their parental homes, children are supervised, and behavior modifications are made, whenever necessary. A child, when he attains adulthood, is not fully capable of dealing with the conflicts of life, and some more time is highly recommended for them before they make a decision to leave their parent’s home to live independently.
