Some people think it is better to choose friends who always have the same opinions as them. Other people believe it is good to have friends who sometimes disagree with them. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.

Selecting the type of friends is always a matter of debate. While some opt for friends of their same wavelength and opinions, others feel that their friends should criticize them occasionally. I feel it is better to choose the second option.

On the one side of the argument, when friends always have the same opinions, the likeliness of conflicts would be the rarest. To be precise, they would be a uniformity of thoughts and actions among them, which is much essential in maintaining a strong bond between friends. Moreover, such groups can set an objective faster and strive for achieving that goal better than friends who often have differences in opinions.

On the other side of the argument, the core reason why some encourage having friends who often criticize is because of the fact that an individual’s weakness can be better identified by a friend than others. To be clearer, many get advices and criticisms from their living environment, and most of these are left unattended. However, when a person is criticized by his own friend, he would have a second thought and is most likely to make positive changes.

In my opinion, in this deceptive world, individuals can find more fair weather friends than real friends who often point out the mistakes and weaknesses. At this juncture, it is better to choose friends who can freely criticize and correct us in crucial situations.

To conclude, although making friends of the same opinion has numerous benefits, in today’s world in which an individual needs to be more perfect, selecting friends who often criticize is much better.
