Some people think the money spent on developing technology for space exploration is not justified. There are more beneficial ways to spend this money. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some argue that it is irrational to spend money on space exploration. Instead, they suggest spending this money on other areas as it would bring more benefits to human life. I too tend to agree to the viewpoint.

 The first reason why I tend to agree to the view is because it is illogical to spend an exorbitant sum on uncertainty. To be precise, when human beings are not completely aware of the secrets and mysteries on the earth where they exist, exploring the extra-terrestrial boundaries based on just assumptions and calculations is unjustifiable.  As an example, since last century, billions of dollars are being spent on exploring the opportunities of human survival in other planets and none of them turned productive yet.

 The second reason why I support the idea is because of the fact that there are numerous pressing issues the world is facing today, which have to be addressed on a war-time basis. Concerns such as climate change, pollution and the spread of newer diseases are some of such issues. It can be also seen that a considerable proportion of human beings are living a sub-standard life on the earth. At this juncture, it is rational to divert funds for space exploration to these areas than to waste this money.

 I admit that space exploration is necessary in order to prevent possible dangers from extra-terrestrial space and to find an alternative space of living other than earth. However, I believe there more pressing needs for humans at present.

 To conclude, though it is essential for human beings to have knowledge about the celestial bodies and the outer space, I believe that there are more serious issues which have to be addressed at present with that money.
