Some people today believe that the world’s increase in population is unsustainable and will eventually lead to a global crisis. Other people believe that world population increase is necessary and beneficial as it creates the growth of the world’s economy and society. Discuss both these views and give your opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge. Write at least 250 words.

There exists a controversy regarding growing global population. While some argue that it creates catastrophes, others perceive it positively for both the societies and the whole world. Analyzing the present scenario, if this growth is not arrested, it would push humanity to further crises.

The reason why some people believe that population growth is beneficial is because they feel that this would create a favorable platform for the overall development of global economy and individual societies.  To be clearer, when there is an increase in the number of people, the workforce would get stronger, and this in turn would take the productivity to the next level.  There would be more skilled professionals in each society like doctors, engineers and teachers, which benefits the country as a whole. In addition, it can also supply human resourses to those countries which are in need of their services.

Those who criticize population explosion project the increased irrational human activities which not only causes damage to the environment, but also to the humans themselves. For example, when population swells, the need of exploiting the nature becomes more inevitable. This is not just an environmental concern. The future generation is going to see an utter scarcity of resources if the nature is exploited relentlessly.  Issues of living space, food scarcity, increased crime and morbidity are just some of the issues population hike can cause.

In my opinion, exploding population is to be seen as a serious concern, which can make life in the planet even worse in the recent future, and this is going to reflect in every field of human life.

To conclude, though nations and societies can gain from population growth in some way, I feel the drawbacks it is going to present the humanity would overshadow those.
