MODEL ANSWER:

Most people consider a country as successful when it is prosperous economically. Apart from this parameter of success, many think other factors exist and I think the ability of a nation not to depend on any other countries for its existence is more significant among these.

The two major contributing factors which make a nation successful other than economic progress are social security and an increased happiness index. Both these are closely co-related. The first of these: the social security can be assured to the people only by a stable and determined government. A peace-prevailing country with no incidents of crimes reported is a dream of any pro-thinking, socially active citizen and once the goal is achieved, he can definitely attest that he lives in a successful country. Once this goal is fulfilled, a country can think of a sound happiness index. This can be assured when the government tries to make the satisfaction level of its citizens to the maximum, by implementing the most popular demands of the public. As the volume of citizens who are dissatisfied increases, the country can make sure that it is in the path of success.

However, I think there is another factor, which determines the success of a country, which I think is more important than the aforementioned and that is the self-sufficiency. To be precise, when a country can independently meet its agricultural, industrial, health, educational and mass communication needs, it can be called as a stable and self-sufficient country and no one can object its success, though it fails to become an economic giant.
