MODEL ANSWER:

Of late, there is an increase in the commercial and cultural activities between nations. While some argue that this is positive, others feel it dilutes the national identity. Both views are relevant in the current scenario and the same are discussed in the ensuing paragraphs.

On the one hand, when trade and cultural exchanges prosper between the nations, there are more circumstances for international interaction. For example, a company can find a new and promising market in another country to sell its product or service, and thereby increase the profit share. A more competitive market and a wide range of quality products are added benefits. Similarly, when entertainments like music and movies would become global, they get wider acceptance. You tube and other popular social media platforms are playing a vital role in showcasing talented people across the world, and this should be seen as a quintessential example for this.

On the other hand, there exist criticisms against these exchanges. The primary criticism is regarding the dilution of culture and lifestyle. To be clearer, when globalization becomes stronger, most orthodox cultures are likely to lose their cultural identities. Many oriental countries have adopted the food habits and clothing styles of the West. At the same time, many Western countries are practising naturopathy and yoga. For instance, it is very difficult to identify a Canadian citizen because he lives in a multi-cultural society. As the trade and cultural exchanges become more common, the world is expected to become a global village with no specific cultural identity, they fear.

After analysing both views in detail, it is clear that globalization would bring visible benefits to people across the world. However, one should also accept that when this happens, they are likely to lose their own national or cultural identities.
