The bar chart below shows the number of houses built per year in two cities, Derby and Nottingham, between 2000 and 2009. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The given bar chart depicts the construction statistics of houses in Derby and Nottingham between 2000 and 2009.

In general, there was an increase in the number of houses built in the given decade, of which more houses were constructed in Derby than in Nottingham.

In 2000, there were slightly more number of constructed houses in Nottingham than in Derby, 50 and 45 respectively. The trend reversed after 2001, and till 2006, an average of 122 houses were built in Derby, whereas in Nottingham this ranged between just two and 75. However, in 2007, once again Nottingham overtook Derby when it could build nearly 190 houses, 70 more than Derby could.

Derby witnessed an exponential increase in the house construction in the next couple of years (270 and 350 respectively). Despite a sharp fall in the houses built in 2008, Nottingham bounced back in the very next year with 250 finished houses.
