Variations in the price of milk for a gallon in New Zealand in 2013 when compared to 2012 are depicted in the given chart.

In general, the price was higher from January till March in the former year, whereas it was higher from April to June in the latter year.

It is clear from the chart that the milk prices were declining constantly in the first half of 2012. From almost $3.7 for a gallon, it fell to approximately $2.4 by June. If looked at a closer angle, the fall was sharper in the first two months. During these months, the price fell by almost $0.6.

When compared to 2012, the price was less in the first three months of 2013. Over this period, the average cost of one gallon milk in New Zealand was $3, which started falling between March and May. In May, 2013, it hit the lowest of the year ($2.70), and then showed a sign of recovery in the very next month, with a hike of $0.1.
