The best curriculum is not one based on a static body of knowledge but one which teaches student to cope with change. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

REPORTED ON 14 MARCH, 2022, CBT IELTS

It is argued that the best curriculum is one which educates students to adapt with change and not providing them a static stream of knowledge. It is difficult to decide which is the best as I feel it is necessary to equip students with the changing situations, but the base of the study is mostly static in nature.

The essence of the argument is that the areas of studies are constantly changing as the world is changing itself in this advanced era of technology. To be precise, the lifestyle of the modern people is entirely different from what it was in the past, and this change is reflected in every minute aspect of human life. For example, in the past, economics taught people that demand of a product is inversely proportional to its supply. Although basic concept is true and applicable in many situations, businesses have undergone serious changes. Therefore, a student who is not aware of the changes which happened in the marketing field would not grow into a successful businessman.

However, most subjects cannot be taught without a strong platform of theories or principles. This is because one cannot better adopt with any change in a stream of knowledge if he does not know its basic concepts and principles. Indeed, this is the area in which the curriculum-makers have to be very careful because every change which a student has to cope with has a very direct relation with this static form of knowledge. The most interesting fact is that the static knowledge is least likely to change itself, and if it changes, it takes time.

To conclude, it is pivotal to teach students to adapt to changes in every area of study. However, it is hardly possible without having a thorough knowledge in the subject, which is in static form.
