Information on the cost of airline tickets from Sydney to Melbourne and the return fare over a two-week period in 2013 is depicted in the given bar charts.

It is apparent that flight fares in both directions exhibited roughly a similar pattern in the first week, while the cost of travel in the second week was comparatively low.

In the first week, the ticket fare an average passenger had to spend to travel from Sydney to Melbourne on Monday was $80, which was $20 more than the return fare of the same day. However, both to and fro fares in the next three days stood at an average of $35. However, Friday witnessed a spike in the fare, and it was recorded at $75 and $80 respectively. The price descended since then till Sunday to $50 in both the cases.

 

In the second week, the typical fare from Sydney to Melbourne ranged between $35 and $50 during Monday to Thursday, but in case of the return travel, the upper range stood at $40. In both cases, Monday was more expensive for the traveller. A hike is seen in the fare on Friday in both cases. Fights to Melbourne charged $75 on this day, which was $15 more than flights to Sydney. By Sunday, both to and fro fares settled at $50.
