The charts below show the medical research funding amount in millions of dollars in Someland and the death number in the area in 1990.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The given graphs are a comparative study of the number of deaths caused by six diseases with the funding in medical research in Someland in 1990.

In general, the areas in which the funding was high, the mortality numbers were low, whereas in the areas in which the funding was low, the mortality was high.

As per the given charts, most amount of money was spent on AIDS research, and this was about $180 million. It fetched good result, as evidenced by the low number of deaths due to AIDS (just around 0.2 million). The next highest spent areas were in the fields of leprosy and tropical disease prevention, and this helped Someland to keep the death number to just 0.1 million and 0.3 million respectively. The least amount of funding was for TB prevention ($20 million), and this caused the highest deaths ever recorded in 1990 (1.8 million).

However, it is clear that desired results in relation to the amount spent in research were not achieved in case of fighting diarrhoea and malaria. When an average of 55 million dollars were allocated for research in these areas, the deaths reported were 0.5 million and 0.4 million respectively.
