The graph below shows the average calorie intake per person in eight countries in 2003. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The given bar graph classifies eight countries on the basis of the calorie-intake by their citizens in 2003.

 Overall, it is clear that when the pattern of intake was either average or below average in most countries, in the US and New Zealand, it was higher.

 As per the chart, people of the US and New Zealand had higher calorie consumption than the citizens of the other six countries. In both countries the calorie intake was between 3000 and 3500 in 2003, with Americans’ intake recorded nearly 3500.

 The countries which had their population which met an ideal calorie requirement per each individual were Spain and Mexico, with an intake of about 2500 calories in 2003. Spain had a slight dominance over Mexico in this case. However, in all the four other countries, it was below average. In China and India, this was marked at approximately 2000, whereas in Somalia and Indonesia, the figures were roughly around 1900 and 1750 respectively.
