MODEL ANSWER>>>

A statistical analysis of a survey report on the participation of Scottish adults in the past year is depicted in the given table.

Overall, it is clear from the table that except in crafts and cultural purchases, the rate of participation was higher among the youngest age group.

Out of the 6800 Scottish subjects who were over 16, it is evident that the age group between 16 and 24 had the highest participation rate in these activities and this ranged from 10 in computer based programs to 35 in dancing and related activities. The second most interested area of this group was visual arts; at around 30% which was almost double than that of writing. However, their involvement in the other two activities (crafts and cultural purchases) was lower (11%) when compared to the older age groups.

On the other hand the older age groups (25-44 and 45-74) participated more in crafts and cultural purchases. Among these groups the average rate of participation in these activities was 17 in case of the younger group, and 20 in case of the older. Other than dancing and allied performances, they had some interest in visual arts too (16% and 11% respectively). However, they were least interested in the other two activities (writing and computer based).
