It is argued that a person’s future success is greatly depended on the values that he learns from his parents than the skills and knowledge he gains from his school. Although both have significant roles in making a person successful, I believe parents have a slightly greater influence in this.

The cardinal reason why I tend to align to the view is because of the emotional attachment children have towards their parents. To be precise, children are more comfortable with their parents and tend to observe and pay attention to them more than anyone else. For example, a mother can narrate moral stories to her child while feeding, while a father can be a role model to teach his child how to behave appropriately in the family.

Another reason behind my agreement is because of the increased duration of time children spend with their parents. To be clearer, most children spend quality time with their parents and this time is more crucial in learning the most necessary skills of life, like discipline, responsibility and patience. These tend to remain with children all through their life, and  plays a significant role in shaping a person’s personality in future.

I have to admit that schools also play almost an equal and commendable role in an individual’s future success. To explain it further, the school curriculum is designed in such a way that it can teach children the essential knowledge and skills to children in the most systematic way as per the stages of their growth and development. This provides the basis of his future education.

To conclude, it is clear that parents and teachers have their own roles in making children successful in future. However, the role a parent has is slightly more significant than the later.
