Some people consider the social media networks as stages to project their personal information and thus they make themselves visible to all the so called ‘netizens’. Even though it appears to be safe for many, I think there are numerous invisible dangers if a person proceeds with this.

The foremost concern is the issue of privacy, when these turn out to be the ‘ vital information resources ‘ for many. The personal posts on these media such as a WhatsApp or a Facebook profile picture can be manipulated by the so called ‘hackers’, with which they can initiate the process of blackmailing, abuse or even extreme wrongdoings. The consequences of this can range from social isolation and depression to self-mutilation and even suicide.

Another area of concern is the psycho-social disturbances, which can be as mild as simple emotional tremors to severe personality disorders. For example, when a person posts either his current status or his updated picture on a social network, and if he finds it has not made enough views and likes as per his expectation, he might feel hapless. Aggression, violence or an extreme antisocial behavior can emerge from this feeling, which might make the crisis worse.

The final concern I can project is the unrealistic approach of these social media addicts. To be precise, these media worms live in a virtual world, far from reality, which ultimately enslave them in this network forever.

Nonetheless, there are people who find no major issues with this behavior. They may highlight the self-confidence and the extrovert behavior among these people. I can admit there is some kind of truth in this, but not to the full extent.

To conclude, though the exposure of personal information on social media platforms tends to be an acceptable social nature, I think there are potential dangers, which can create catastrophes anytime.
