With the development of online communication, people will never be alone and will always be able to make new friends. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

It is said that the advancements in online communication help people to devoid of solitude, and has enabled them to make new friends. Although I agree to the former notion, the latter cannot be always true.

The quintessential proof that online communication can kill the loneliness of people is the increasing time an average internet user spends online. To be precise, a sizeable proportion of people who are not actively involved at work is seen spending hours on popular sites of communication like twitter, instagram or facebook. Even those who are engaged at serious work too are seen spending an average of 2-3 hours extra on the social media to escape from their boredom.

However, I cannot fully absorb that not every internet user can make new friends online. The core reason why I think behind this is that people hardly trust those profiles they see on the internet. For example, a considerable proportion of online communicators either use fake profiles to chat with others or do not give necessary information regarding their identity. In such situations, only a virtual friendship is made instead of a genuine relationship. At the same time, I need to admit that a negligible proportion of people are seen making new friends smoothly.

To conclude, it is clear that the development if internet technology would definitely a boon to those who feel lonely. However, it is also a fact that not all can make newer friends online.
