Dear Mr Simon,

I am writing this letter to seek advance apology for the delay in the return of books which you issued me last week.

I am a second year post graduate student in the Department of Periodontics and my enrolment number is PD 2435. I have been availing your service since the time of my enrolment in the college, and I have never failed to return a book before.

Last Friday I borrowed three books from our department library and the due date of returning those is by the end of this week. The books helped me a lot in my project preparation and I was prepared to return it well-ahead of the deadline. Unfortunately, I fell ill with a contagious flu and have been under self-isolation.

I am left with no option but to return the books by next Monday. I understand that you have only limited copies of that edition and I assure no further delay.
