You recently saw an advertisement in a newspaper seeking volunteers to do unpaid work with local children. You are interested in this work. Write a letter to the head of the organisation. In your letter

  • express your interest
  • ask for details of the work that needs to be done
  • let them know when you are available.

Write at least 150 words.

 Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in response to the advert on ‘The Morning Times’, the local daily seeking helpers to do unpaid work with local children.

Until last month, I had been taking care of preschool children in a local day-care along with my studies. As I had my final exam, I took a small break, however now that I have successfully completed the course, I want to contribute my free service to the society’s children again.

It would be grateful if you could reveal the tasks and responsibilities of a staff in your facility. I am good at making children learn stories and songs as well as feeding them. I am well aware that I can get along with them quite easily.

Pertaining to the timings, I am available all the weekdays from morning till evening and on Saturdays, till 2 pm. I would not be available on Sundays since I usually get along with my friends that day.

I look forward from you a prompt and positive response.

 Yours faithfully,

 Sandra

You have seen an advertisement in a newspaper for a job in the city post office during your holidays.
You decide to apply for the job.
Write a letter to the director of the post office. In your letter,
***introduce yourself
***explain what experience and special skills you have
***explain why you are interested in the job.
Write at least 150 words.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing in response to a job advert which recruits staff to the city post office.

I am a commerce graduate with two years of work experience. Last Monday, when I was reading the newspaper, I saw an advertisement regarding 10 temporary vacant jobs at the city post office. I think I can apply for the clerical post, which I prefer over the others.

I completed a certificate course in ‘Modern Financial Accounting’. I worked as a trainee clerk in ‘Alpha Serene’, a multi-level marketing company for two years. I am planning to take a post-graduation in either Finance or Accounting, and a job related to this during my holidays would be beneficial for me.

As I desire to work somewhere near my home, I think this temporary job in the city post office is a real boon for me. I think the experience I gain from an institution like this is really worthy.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Peterson.

You saw an advertisement in the newspaper for a property management position at an apartment complex. Write a letter to express your interest.

Include:

  • Why you are writing
  • Your suitability for the role
  • How you would approach the position

Write at least 150 words.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my interest in applying for the post of the property manager which was advertised by your company on the local newspaper.

I had been working as the property manager at L&R Apartments for the past five years. However, due to the ongoing pandemic situation, my employer had to sell the property, and I lost my job. Since then, I have been searching for a job which suits me.

I am confident that the job expertise that I gained from my previous employment tenure can help me to carry out the tasks easily. I am also good at communicating with various levels of people and can solve their problems swiftly.

I am pretty sure that I can handle the requirements of the current and prospective occupants of the apartment building and solve their issues in a professional manner. I can also assure you that the building is well-maintained and all records are maintained with no financial complications.

I look forward to hearing from you a positive reply.

Yours faithfully,

Nikki Fernandez
