Dear Mr Martin,

 I am writing to request you a week extension to submit my semester assignment.

 My name is David Livingston, a student of yours, doing second semester English Literature. My student ID number is RE 2315, and my monthly assignment submission date was on or before 4^th of December, which I am unsure about.

 The reason why I am asking you an extension is because I was suffering from viral fever for a week, which made me do nothing. As advised by the doctor, I was in the bed for all the previous week, and now I realise that I cannot complete the assignment in just two days.

 Almost three-fourth of my work is completed. I need at least two days to complete it, and another couple of days to cross-check, edit and finalise the work. Therefore, I would be ready for the assignment submission before 10 am on the coming Monday.
