It is a fact that the number of young people involved in crimes is hiking across the world. Two major reasons attributing to this are discussed below, and it is necessary to have a multi-facet approach to tackle the crisis effectively.

The first reason which seems to be contributing to this dramatic increase is the ineffective parenting.  To be precise, many modern parents do not know how to bring up their children. They are just bothered of their children’s physical or economical needs, but are not really aware of their emotional and social well-being. In some cases, parents are seen spending limited time with their children due to their tight schedules. In rare cases, parents are abusive, which is also an example of poor parenting.

The next reason which appears to be a concern is the unrestricted use of technology. To be clearer, today’s youth are spending much more time on the internet or playing video games. The worst outcomes of this trend is psychological; such as self-centrism, aggression and violence. They are diverted from the real world by limiting social interactions and live a mechanical life in a virtual world, which eventually push them into emotional darkness.

Whether it is poor parenting, exposure to technology or other reasons such as unemployment, poverty, bad role models, there should be a combined effort from different sectors to address this issue. The first initiative should be taken from the family itself by means of proper parenting and supervision. Teachers, elders and the society should also extend their helping hands to accomplish this goal. Secondly, communities should organise pro-active programmes, specifically designed for the youth and keep them engaged. Finally, governments and legal systems should strictly monitor any emergence of criminal activities, especially from the youth, and take timely action to dissolve those.

To conclude, though there are multiple reasons which can rise the rate of crimes among youth, with appropriate measures taken by both parents, society and the state, the issue can be solved easily.
